Trying to get a bit more discussion going here. Figured I would start threads based on cool new bands for people to check out. Figure a few ground rules. It must be a band that is on their debut album and still active. Must have some form of audio or video for people to check out. Preferably just a single song instead of the complete album but sometimes that isnt possible. After you listen, no need for a full review (unless you want to) but a thumbs up or thumbs down would be appreciated. I will start with a band I stumbled across while letting spotify play in the background while I was trying to clean up the myriad portable hard drives and flash drives I have (If there is a hell im convinced this is what you will be doing for eternity). The band is from Northern Ontario Canada. Knowing that all canadians know each other Im going to assume Michel has probably partied with these guys...lol. The band is named Forbidden Messiah. the song is called "No Hope Left" their debut album comes out tomorrow. If the rest of the album has as much promise as this song, this will be a worthwhile pick up. Still trying to figure out how to purchase the album as the only thing I found on bandcamp is a them doing a cover of Carol of the Bells (yes, the christmas carol and yes it is metal as fuck...lol) back in 2018. Right now im trying to find more info on the band to get some background for a review. In any case here is No hope Left by Forbidden Messiah. Yay or Nay? Would like to see this keep going so if you have come across a cool new band, start a thread...

Not bad, some good stuff there. Not crazy about the shouted chorus though, kinda ruins it for me. Still, worth checking out a few more songs when they release. Yay or Nay? Hmm. Maybe from me.
As for the threads idea: Sure, let 'em come. Only problem: there constantly are so so many new bands to check out, it is slowly starting to feel a little bit like a chore.

I could see that becoming a chore. I was thinking more along the lines of something new that is new that was a surprise to you but impressed you enough to seek out more info about it. Like this band here, I was looking for places to purchase the album and finally decided to reach out to them via facebook. I wouldnt want to have 300 threads going about anything at all that is new....also why I was thinking just to post a song rather than the complete album. Most people can tell within a couple of minutes if it is something you dig or not. I agree with the shouting "hardcorish" vocals but I can overlook vocals, for the most part, as long as the music is good.

If you like symphonic metal like Avantasia, Avaland from France are worth a listen. Ralf Scheepers and Zak Stephens contribute vocals among many others.

Thats a Yay from me. Is it just me or has France really been kicking out some great metal bands over the last couple years?
