A few weeks ago I read that nu-metal was making a comeback. I thought that was just a bad joke.
I think I've seen 5-6 promos in the past couple of weeks.
Isn't the world suffering enough with the coronavirus pandemic?

Michel, it's been over a decade since it was big. That's long enough for it to be retro, and therefor generate nostalgia whether we like it or not, so brace yourself for it for the next few years or so. I, too, am unhappy with this.

That's like being nostalgic about polio.

That's like being nostalgic about polio. You know anti-vaxxers are a thing, yeah?

I can live and let live and just avoid nu-metal like it is radioactive and covered in shit. That is, unless Fred Durst surfaces, then I may have to go live in a cave

I can live and let live and just avoid nu-metal like it is radioactive and covered in shit. Yeah, but the festivals will sign those kind of bands instead of actual good ones and major bands will bring them as warm-up to bring in the kids - just like they have been doing with all kinds of shitty core these past years. One way or another it will be hard to avoid. Oh well.

Well...Mudvayne announced their return a week ago so...lol
But I mean, death core keeps edging closer and closer into nu-metal territory and that is probably also partly responsible for the resurge in nu-metal efforts. I'm hoping it won't get too big, but you never know. The thing is, back then when it got big the first time, it was dominating radio. Now I don't think as many people get their music fix from the same outlets, so it might not catch on the same.

Yeah, but now it will probably dominate spotify instead? Don't stream, so don't really care. Ok, I don't care much for nu-metal, but I recognize that it did act as an intro step into metal for more than a few kids back in the day.
(Have a couple of cousins who were into it big, and one now listens to hard rock, the other are into metal.)
We can hope it will work the same way this time around.

That's like being nostalgic about polio. You know anti-vaxxers are a thing, yeah? Fuck yes. I was just telling Sargon about some dumb bitch replying to an Ottawa Public Health post on Facebook and how I had to restrain myself from replying.

Deathcore was tolerable a few years ago (hmmm... maybe more than a few, come to think of it), as it was much closer to death metal, but what I’ve heard in the past few years wasn’t worth my time. I don’t know how it’s going to turn out this time around. I remember some epic fights on message boards in the early 2000s. That crap was everywhere.
