Fight- War of WordsDespite Mike's warning, I've heard worse. It's not without crap, but I'd gladly take it over the Ripper albums. Second album seems to be more universally hated, so I dread that one much more. I eagerly await the review for Halford III: Winter Songs and, to my great delight, your current quest will take you to 2019's Celestial with even more Christmas joy

When is this out? I really dug The Shackles of Mammon a few years back. Seconded. OT: Fight- A Small Deadly SpaceYep, this is what I thought the first album was gonna be like: tons of heavy groove without actual riffs and it's fucking awful. 2wo- VoyeursThis is...better than the last Fight album? It's still crappy Industrial music that mostly exists to waste Rob's voice as he tries too hard to sound angry and sultry, but it's not the worst of his 90s albums, I guess. Rush- Grace Under PressureGod damn did I need a good album after the last two. I seriously believe this would have been their best album if the second half was as good as the first, but it's still pretty good.

Dream State-Beyond the Mirrors Big Power/Prog demo from the 90s no one remembers. Too long and suffers production woes, but solid U.S. Prog.
Fates Warning-Long Day Good Night Man, it's great having Fates Warning making good music again. It's too long and doesn't hit the same highs of Theories of Flight (at least on first listen), but I'll gladly take more of this over FWX or some shit.

Halford-Resurrection Thank God, Halford getting back into Metal is pretty good. Not great, but it's a godsend considering what came before it.
Halford-Crucible A big step down from the debut, but it's alright, I guess.
Halford-Winter Songs Ok, Mike, I'm at the fucking Christmas album. What do you want me to say about the fucking Christmas album other that it is, in fact, a fucking Christmas album? And I still have the other to get to.......ugh.

Helloween- Helloween Having seen Metalmike’s glowing review I knew it was time for me to finally dig into a full length from Helloween. I’ve been familiar with the band over the last decade and a half but I never committed to a full album until now. No particular reason except perhaps that it was always hard for me to find their albums. What a great record! I love the epic ending of “Skyfall.” That’s probably the most memorable moment for me here.
Sylvatica- Ashes and Snow Thanks to Sargon’s review I learned about this one. The style here is one which I had kinda gotten tired of many years back but this band does this sound so great that I can’t help but dig it. Great record here as well.
Starlight Ritual- Sealed in Starlight Having read both MetalMike and Sargon’s reviews I found myself right in the middle of your opinions here. I quite enjoy the vocals and don’t feel at all bothered by his delivery. One problem I have here is that the album is instantly easy listening, and from there I only feel the experience stays the same over repeat listens, or in some cases becomes too familiar that it loses its charm over time. I wish it was just a little bit more complex. But still, a very enjoyable album.

Pharaoh - The Powers That Be A couple listen in and I'm not sold on it. It's a good album, but so far I find both Bury the Light and Be Gone to be far superior. I don't think this one is going ti get a regular rotation.
Sylvatica - Ashes and Snow As others have said it, great album.

Nekromantheon: Visions of Trismegistos
Felt in a thrashy mood, so started a shuffle of all songs. But first song was ...And justice for all. Realized I had not heard that one in it's entirety in for quite some time - years probably, I switched to that.

When I first heard it, I thought, "can this really be happening?" And I BOUGHT it! It came out in 2009 before I was smart enough to check YouTube. Your reaction is exactly what I expected. And yes, you still have the other one, which I am listening to now and cannot wait for your opinion on
UPDATE: wow, just wow. Celestial is different from Winter Songs in that Halford takes the songs and metals them up. The result is funny, horrible and oddly entertaining all at once

I really haven't been keeping up as I only have his first two album and had no idea he had released one in 2019.

As it turns out, I agree entirely. I don't know if I'd call it good, but this one sounds like he had fun making it rather than just spitting something out for a quick buck. There's even parts of this that have solid guitar work, but then you realize the music video for "Morning Star" has a cat with a Santa hat and sunglasses as a sing along dot and decide to go back in time to assassinate Jesus and Santa to make sure it never happens. I think the point where I completely lost my mind listening to this was the Fa la la la las of "Deck the Halls".

Fates Warning-Theories of Flight God, I forgot how great this album was. Kind of dampens my enjoyment of Long Day Good Night going back to it though.

Ancient Wisdom- A Celebration in Honor of Death A real special Black Metal album, which may not feature any blastbeats, but also does not dive into Doom territory. Atmospheric as all get out. And done very, very well. A one man band, whose sole member is a veteran of Kalmah fame. That alone is enough to know it’s worth listening to. Great album if you don’t need blasting tempo in your BM.
Esoctrilihum- Dy’th Requiem for the Serpent Telepath I’m really not a fan of albums that go into one hour and fifteen minutes length like this and a number of other solid releases recently, but this really is some really cool Black/Death. Many areas will remind of Summoning with its looped melodies here and there. But there’s also plenty of aggression to be found within these tracks as well. Surprised we haven’t had a review for this band up yet. Perhaps I’ll change that once I’m more familiar with this release.
