Lord Vicar- The Black Powder (2019)
Lord Vicar are a very good band indeed - but somehow I can't help feeling they peaked with their debut, at least that is the album I keep returning to.
Admittedly I have not really heard The Black Powder much, perhaps I should do something about that.
Alright, I’ll spin the debut a few times tomorrow and see what I think. For now I’ve only listened to The Black Powder. I haven’t had any listening time in more than 24 hours and I’ve only heard the black powder all the way through 3 or 4 times but I’ve already got a ton of those riffs constantly playing in my head keeping me up all night. Also those vocals, even though they’re not stunning. The delivery is just a perfect package.

Home alone and hearing AC/DC at full blast.
So far Powerage & High Voltage - both among the very best of their albums.

Stagewar- Danger to Ourselves Decent Thrash, but nothing amazing. The songs sometimes go surprisingly diverse at times, making it a bizarre experience that keeps you on your toes on some tracks. However, I don't find anything here all that outstanding in the end. Maybe it needs to be more decisive about what kind of record it is.
Black Mass- Feast at the Forbidden Tree Saw this album cover and release posted in Apple Music recently, and I knew I wanted to hear it when I saw that album cover. Totally not what I was expecting, as I expected it to be more of an Ironsword kind of band based on the cover. Turns out this is a really good Thrash band with light Black Metal influence. A bit of a Venom kind of flavor at times. Really liking this record so far!
WHARFLURCH- Realms Ov Hell Apparently their name is all capitals? That's kind of obnoxious, but I have to admit this is a pretty good Death Metal album, more in the vain of Tomb Mold, Cerebral Rot, and the like. I found the soloing and melodic elements really standout moments on here. Great sounding record.

Paradox - Heresy II
Best thrash record I've heard in a while
The Troops of Doom - The Absence of Light
filthy death/thrash like old Slayer & Sepultura

Carcass - Torn Arteries Blazon Stone - Damnation Ancient Empire - Priest of Stygia Norm MacDonald - Me Doing Standup (I'll miss this guy)
I really like the new Carcass but the production is such a step down from Surgical Steel in my opinion. The guitars aren't nearly as razor sharp and the drums sound blunted or something.

Summoner's Circle-Chaos Vector More theatrical Black/Death, but it's pretty good for that.
Envoken-Hypnogogia Really good Funeral Doom somewhat akin to old Pantheist
Neutral Milk Hotel-In the Aeroplane Over the Sea A specific stripe of music nerds often herald this as one of the greatest albums ever made. I cannot begin to understand why, it's just glorified college rock with a rougher production than average.

Been really busy with work lately, so not a lot of listening time, and definitely not any good chances to listen to the albums I'm soon to review. Which also means my listening is a little bit uninspired. Been listening to these: Insane- Victims I agree with Luxi's review on this one. It's quite fun. Some surprising riffs on it in some tracks, like on "Oblivious Void," which is probably my favorite track here. Good to hear some nice thrash. I like this album much more than their previous effort.
Portrait- At One with None I quite like the album. Vocals are great, songs are great. One of the bonus tracks is so good I think it should have been made to fit the actual record, not a bonus track. But whatever, it's all cool.
Devoid of Thought- Outer World Graves Seems like a pretty good Death Metal album, albeit I remember very little of it. The lengthy track, "Four Cereulean Ways" has a bizarre freak-out kind of moment in the guitars that feels a bit out there and was memorable, though. Overall, a cool Death metal band with some experimental, technical tendencies without being a technical Death metal band.

Carcass- Torn Arteries I like this new album a lot! It has some unique riffing on it that I feel unfamiliar with for this band. Like they're having a little bit more fun with it this time around. I was never a big Carcass fan, but this one is fun. Surgical Steel was excellent as well. This band has aged well.
