Not sure at all if anyone of you knows this already defunct Finnish Heavy Metal band Riff Raff, but they were actually really good, releasing 3 full-length studio albums before they disbanded in 1984 for good. Very Accept-ish sounding stuff, may I add... This is their 2nd album, "Robot Stud", from 1982...

These Finnish thrashers, Protected Illusion, were awesome... kind of like a mixture of Sadus, Soothsayer and something else that I cannot get in my mind right now...

Sangreal: This here is an epic heavy metal band which seems to have a sound rooted in Maiden, but it generally feels more epic to me. Also, a light addition of synth strings sounds here and there adds to the different tone. The overall feel of the band and the album also reminds me a bit of another great band, Ancient Empire. If you like Maiden and Ancient Empire, and love the combined talents of this somewhat supergroup of a band, which includes ex-Battleroar/ex-Doomsword vocalist Gabriel Grilli, who shines strongly all over this album as an incredibly strong vocalist, do check this one out. I'm not seeing any significant buzz about this band/album, despite its release in 2019.

A great new find that I did a while ago... NEPHYLIM from Netherlands, playing a very and atmospheric Death Metal, reminding me of such names as - off the top of my head, Wolfheart, Insomnium and Kalmah.

Found this Epic Metal duo called Doublegeddon while researching bands with fabricated backgrounds. The music is as glorious as their ridiculous backstory. They seem to be working on a full-length, so here's hoping it lives up to this doublegeddon.bandcamp.com/album/two-geddons

I think they were all on some small metal festival bill or something. Im old so all of that could probably be three completely different bands I am thinking of and it wasnt a metal festival but rather something I overheard at a carwash...lol I do know I have listened to them and liked what I heard. If you dont know Judicator or Ironflame you may want to check them out as well. Judicator is so much Blind Guardian worship they even got Hansi to do vocals on one of their songs...lol

Came across this last night. Very cool Black Metal with a lot of melody that drifts into that Hellripper or Nite territory on occasion. Stays firmly in the black metal arena but the use of melody here is really cool. Some really nice lead guitar work here as well which is not always the case in Black Metal.

Finnish thrashers CHARGED released just this one album (In Vice) back in 1989 - and unfortunately disbanded almost right after that.

Haemophagus: Identified as a Deathgrind band from Italy, but I mostly feel they align with Death metal, as the grind core elements aren't very strong. Here's a track from their final album before they split up. I'm currently wrapping up a review for the album from which it came, which is called Stream of Shadows, released in 2017. Does anyone else listen to the middle part of this song and notice a somewhat odd similarity with Black Sabbath's "War Pigs?" The drumming and riffing for that small segment before the music gets fast at the middle is really similar in a way. These guys show off a ton of influences on their final album and really released a killer death grind effort, the only Deathgrind album that matters to me anymore. Each song is uniquely different, and they offer a ton of cool features, even a saxophone bit in the song "Meteor Mind" which fits perfectly and just shows how much fun this style can be.

Not bad, if a little basic. Like it.
