"The lead guitarist and founder of American heavy metal band Iced Earth is among those wanted by police for storming the US Capitol yesterday (January 6).
Hordes of Donald Trump‘s supporters violently took over the Washington D.C. building as Congress were in the process of certifying Joe Biden‘s election victory.
Jon Schaffer was photographed among the rioters who breached security at the Capitol and, in one image captured by AFP’s Roberto Schmidt, appeared to be wildly gesticulating in the middle of the chaotic scenes.
Now, Schaffer has appeared on a PowerPoint presentation from the Metropolitan Police in D.C., which documents people sought after for “unrest-related offences” and the unlawful entry of Capitol grounds."
I’ve largely ignored the band since Barlow left the first time and now I’ll make it a point to ignore it. Already years ago I got a bad taste from the garbage I read in his interviews, so this is just the next logical step.

Ugh, that was rough news. I actually never listened to more than 1 or 2 songs of Iced Earth as I couldn’t really appreciate what I heard (most likely mid-era Iced Earth material from what I can recall). Still, unfortunate to see a relevant name caught up in the disaster that was.
I can’t imagine what kind of feelings Biden must have about taking office in a few days. If I were him, I’d be terrified of what kind of acts might be carried out against me in the coming days. I don’t envy him right now at all.
As for me, I love his music. I own all his CD's, albums, singles, EP's, everything.
I have a Schaffer poster on one of the doors in the house (wife hates it):
One of the kids drew butterflies on the word PUSSY.
I will still continue purchasing his music. It's no different to Nugent, Mustaine, Sebastian Bach whatever. He's a wingnut for conspiracies, but so what, he's a talented songwriter and I listen to the music and Iced Earth has no political affiliation. Mostly scifi and history. I actually love the recent Iced Earth albums. Incorruptible was incredible!
And I knew about all of this deep-state foil hat crap long time ago. He was on Alex Jones' show! I still looked past it. At least he's passionate about what he believes in. I listen to Christian metal just fine, and I'm an agnostic.
