Smart move leaning in on your incredibly attractive lead singer. In todays society talent seems to only take you so far...having both certainly gives you a leg up...lol

My first metal album was Maiden's Edward the Great greatest hits collection. From the moment I heard the galloping guitars of Run to the Hills coming out of the stereo I knew I was hearing something special. Unfortunately, my second album was Metallica's St Anger and the third was Sepultura's Roorback. As you may imagine, that discouraged me from exploring the genre further and Maiden was the only band I heard for a long while. It wasn't until much later that I started to branch out after finding a few recommendations on some forums. My metal education really only took off after I found this site. You guys are responsible for 95% of the music I hear.

Although it wasn’t completely true for me, I must say that this site I discovered while I was at my mom’s work playing around on the internet. I don’t remember what I was searching but the year was maybe 2001 and I just remember being interested in finding more black metal at the time. There were albums listed on this site by bands I’d never seen or heard of, and I revisited this site ever since to find good metal.

For me it was mostly the epic/true metal reviews that kept me coming back - stuff which not many sites was much into. I discovered bands like Battleroar, Ironsword, Atlantean Kodex here.

Same with regards to true/epic heavy metal. Before getting deep into this site, I never knew of bands like those, and admittedly when I first heard Ironsword and other bands like that, I didn’t quite understand why Sargon and crew were so fond of them. Now I would like to slap myself many years ago for not getting it back then. Haha

I have been listening to metal since 1980 and I would say the last year or two is where I finally "GOT" black metal. I am still not a fan of the stuff with production that sounds like it was recorded in a sex dungeon/D&D gamer area/mom's basement on a hello kitty tape deck with a blown out mic. Other than that the only thing I cant get into is grindcore or that excruciatingly slow funeral doom. Who knows though, 30 years from now I might love it and be annoying the shit out of people at the home my kids will invariably put me in...lol

It was either the Megadeth - So Far, So Good... So What? cassette or the Megadeth - Youthanasia CD (pretty cool larmer28 that Youthanasia started you off, too). Not sure which one I bought first. Probably the cassette.
