I can't put my finger on it, but I'm sensing a theme here....

I can't put my finger on it, but I'm sensing a theme here.... I don't know what you're talking about...... OT: The Rise of SkywalkerWell, this was a pain: The PS3 started acting up just past halfway into the movie. Might be a smudge on the BD disc. I remembered having ripped it, so I switched to streaming it from my server, but fast-forwarding with the app is a pain in the ass. Much expletives were uttered.

I had more after The Last Jedi, I think. It’s… hmmm… yeah. Both had their WTF moments.

It is amazing how they fucked the new trilogy up - it made ep 1-3 look really good in comparison.

Over the weekend. Monster Hunter & Jigsaw. Both ok without really impressing me.

I went back this year and re-watched The Phantom Menace and didn't hate nearly as much as I thought I would. It is still not great but even Jar Jar was not as loathsome as when I went to see a midnight showing the day it was released in 1999

Becky - indie movie about a 13-year-old girl who goes all Die Hard/Home Alone in the woods when some escaped convicts take her family hostage. really violent and a stellar performance from the lead.

It is still not great but even Jar Jar was not as loathsome as when I went to see a midnight showing the day it was released in 1999 honestly, I think it was the hardcore expectation of both subsequent trilogys that made them bad in comparison. The prequels you were just insanely excited that a new star wars movie was coming and the skywalker trilogy you just thought "there is no way they can fuck up ANOTHER trilogy, is there?". Yes, yes there is. That being said neither of them were as bad as I remember. I watched them with my sons last summer and seeing it through their experience I saw that same look of awe I obviously had when I was a kid watching the original trilogy in the theater. Nothing was going to live up to that simply because as an adult I became way more critical of it. If you really break it down Return is really not that good but I remember loving it as a kid.

Yeah, my daughter LOVED The Phantom Menace because she saw it through the eyes of an 8 year old and the pod race was for her like the trench run was for me in 1997. I mean, Jar Jar sucked, CGI Yoda sucked and Anakin was annoying regardless of which actor was playing him, but there was some good stuff in the first three movies
