I hooked up my Nintendo Switch to the TV and dusted off the system. I started Shin Megami Tensei V last week. My first SMT game. It’s much darker than Persona 5, much like what I had read. Uses the same demons as Persona series, so there is a big crossover of content between these series. Overall, a pretty cool game so far, although I don’t like the sound design and the music tracks aren’t all that interesting to me, unlike with the Persona series. I’m also playing Rogue Legacy, a great roguelike indie game. I remember mjolnir talking about the Binding of Isaac, which is my favorite roguelike game and one of my favorites of all time actually, I wonder if you’ve played Rogue Legacy. It’s really good. And I’m a little bit obsessed with a music track from this game which very much sounds inspired by heavy metal, especially when the lead guitar riff comes in. The track was called “Narwal.” The Binding of Isaac is my favorite game period. About the purest expression of gaming as an art form as far as I'm concerned. And yes, I've played Rogue Legacy, and yes, it is pretty great. Kind of wish the classes felt more distinct, but it seems they fixed that for the new one that I've yet to play. I have my old roommate from Arkansas to thank for the Binding of Isaac. He claimed it was the best game. I actually do have more hours in that game than any other game, and I do not call it my favorite game. My favorite is probably Earthbound for the SNES. But I'm a big fan of older RPGs first and foremost. Isaac, however, definitely goes into my top 5 games. Had no idea about the sequel to Rogue Legacy. I'll definitely be looking for it on the Switch soon. I've played through the game a few years back, and just came back to it to give myself a break from Shin Megami Tensei V when I feel I've had enough of it at times. I'm at the last fight and I realized that I either suck at this game more than I used to or I just did not level up my guy as much this time through, because I'm having a lot of trouble beating the final boss in his second form. Then again, I'm not putting much effort into it either.

I'm at the last chapter of Chrono Trigger, doing all the side quests before taking on Lavos. I'm only playing the game because I previously finished Chrono Cross last month and recognized some references to the Chrono Trigger game that came before it. These two games...wow, great RPGs. I had played Chrono Trigger when I was a kid more than 18 years ago or something like that, but I'm now wondering if I ever finished it before, as I don't recall some of these events and segments.

Triangle Strategy The name sounds kinda silly, but it’s a great strategy/tactical RPG with a cool 2D HD visual reminiscent of Octopath (same developer team) and a great soundtrack too. Storyline seems a bit full of surprises, which is fun. Battles are sometimes quite long, which I have mixed feelings about, since I don’t often have a lot of time to play. But the way of level grinding is nice because it’s optional and the only required battles are story battles. A game very heavy on narrative, so that might be a dealbreaker for those wanting more action and less dialogue. For me, it’s great, especially since it’s my first tactical RPG to go into.

Vampire Survivors
Super addictive rouge-lite that's easy to learn, difficult to master while being a great pick up and go game. Not bad for a $3 game that's not even complete yet.

The Ascent.
Like Diablo with guns in a really well-detailed Cyberpunk world.

Recently got an Xbox Series X. After playing Gears of War (360 game) to get back into things, I've been playings Gears 4 (I guess three words was too much for most people in this Twitter era). I just bought a bunch of heavily discounted games on the Microsoft Store. Should keep me busy through winter.
Also playing my Arcade1Up arcade. It's largely centred around Pac-Man games, but I mostly play Galaxian and Galaga. Also been playing Ms. Pac-Man on the Xbox. A friend brought over some replicas of the Amiga and C64 with a bunch of old games on them. It's funny how we marvelled at the graphics and music back then and now it almost sounds ridiculous. Mind you, all of these classic games are fucking hard to play.

Faith: The Unholy Trinity
It's 8-bit horror that scares me more than any other horror game I've played. Go figure.

Sort of started on Gears 5. Couldn't escape the training (there are a couple of new things, so I guess that's fine). I thought I had downloaded the whole thing when I bought it, but nope. So now it's downloading. Games are huge these days. I remember when they used to fit on a DVD. Or a diskette, for that matter. Playing Battlefield V off and on, but that game is a bitch. I'm always alone against like 20 Germans and I practically have to empty a charger to bring one of them down. Fuck.

Started Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
I'm at 3 hours now and I'm having a blast.
You're playing a drunken cop with amnesia that has to solve a murder case. A little bit point-and-click adventure/rpg/old style tabletop D&D. And you have 24 voices in your head that are different skills that you need to level up hence the RPG tag.
It's very well written but heavy on the reading part too. But the final cut added voices so you don't have to read everything.
If you're tired of same old games, try it, it's different from anything out there right now!

Rogue Legacy 2 (wouldn’t have even known it came out if mjolnir hadn’t mentioned it a while back here) A lot like the first game, but well expanded with classes and more talents/abilities. I am on what appears to be the last of the area bosses and I assume there will be a main boss after defeating this one similar to how the first game finishes out. It’s a complicated feeling where I love the grind and unlocking stuff but I’m quite good at the game and am kinda speeding through it. Anyway, I’ll probably finish it either today or tomorrow, given my current pace (started the game less than a week ago).

Biomutant. Really fun game, like the Zelda team was tasked with making a Fallout game.

Downloaded Cristale and Crosscode. Two small indy type games that I'm gonna play in between Star Wars Jedi.
