Bandcamp Friday is back this Friday and they've announced dates (first Friday of the month) until December. I was a bit surprised to see it return since bands have been touring like hell these past few months, but I guess it's also good publicity for Bandcamp.

Bands were talking up the Bandcamp Fridays and I'm sure that has led to a significant increase in sales, likely making up far more than they are losing in loss of fees. I've bought a bunch of things in the past year that I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't in to supporting the bands.

I like that, when buying vinyl there (when the shipping cost isn't sky-high), you get a downloadable version (some come with a download code, but not many). I've found it a little challenging to listen to vinyl when taking a walk, having to carry a power pack, stereo components, and holding the turntable steady.

I don't have that issue since I have only been buying cassette versions. That said, the downloads sound a lot better than my Walkman, the playback heads on which probably haven't been cleaned in ever

While I haven't done that often, but I've never noticed any difference.
