New Jersey's OVERLORDE signed with No Remorse Records and will finally release their second album, Awaken the Fury, nearly 20 years after their debut Return of the Snow Giant: label.noremorse.gr/news/overlorde-join-no-remorse-recordsThey'll also reissue their 1987 EP. It's a rarity. I got mine direct from guitarist Mark M.E. Edwards a little over 20 years ago. high hopes for this one

New Suffocation album conning out early next month, and the two preview tracks I’ve heard have me actually expecting this to be a year end list topper! Holy hell is “Seraphim Enslavement” a banger! I’ve always been a Suffocation fan, but recent releases didn’t leave me ever expecting something this good could ever come out from them again. My now most highly anticipated record of the year, slipping in just above Cirith Ungol. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ba8VAT8ivPE&pp=ygUgU3VmZm9jYXRpb24gc2VyYXBoaW0gZW5zbGF2ZW1lbnQ%3D

Not much of a fan of Suffocation. I did get the promo but I haven't download it (yet?). They're playing at Trois-Rivières Metalfest here in November.

Yeah, they're easily a top 5 death metal band for me. The last few albums were sorta meh, but I can't believe how good the material I've heard from the new album is!

I haven't listened to them in years, so I'm going to check out the new one eventually. Lots of bands I didn't like way back when that I like now (and vice versa, of course).

I love when that happens. It's hilarious looking back in my memory that I was digging around at a Hastings Entertainment store in my hometown when I was around 11 years old and stumbled across the first Black Sabbath album in a discount bin. It was a very unique version that was not typically found or sold with a bonus disc and stuff. Hadn't heard the band before but knew their name. I turned that on at home and didn't get what the fuss was about and tried a few days before I put it in my CD rack and didn't try again until nearly 10 years later. Then...well...that album is fucking magical! I listen through it routinely every year, at least a few loops one month out of the year. I hope you'll dig the new Suffocation record. From what I've heard, it will likely be an end of year topper for me, granted death metal has long been my favorite subgenre.

Sonata Arctica have a new album coming out next year and if the lead single is any indication, it's gonna be power metal goodness!
Pardon me while I fanboy for a while

The new Suffocation is pretty good, though I have yet to give it an attentive listen (I've listened to it while working and while walking). Judas Priest have a new one, Invicible Shield, coming out in March. The song "Panic Attack" is available on YouTube. Halford sounds good, but musically it didn't grab me. I didn't even get through the whole song.

We’re finally getting a new Borknagar album! I believe I saw it scheduled for February sometime. Preview track “Summits” is out now. About to listen to it! Excited for this news.
