I was in a huge Pagan Altar phase at the time when I heard this, and admittedly I don't think it stacks up to Mythical & Magical, the Pagan Altar album I was mostly listening to at the time.
Talking of Pagan Altar; Recently noticed that BC has their discography with "Remaster 2019". Has anybody heard some of these?

A2Z-Paradise of Paradise An instrumental project from Tarot's guitarist. Actually has a songwriting ethos besides jerking off and is rather cool.
FATE GEAR-The Sky Prison Not too familiar with the Japanese Power Metal scene, but with the exception of Light Bringer, all I've heard is super generic. This has some excellent vocals, but is also pretty standard.

Getting excited for the upcoming Baest album - old school death by a great band

Bathory- Nordland I This feels like Quorthon in top shape to me (aside from the very different and equally badass Blood Fire Death). His singing has a more focused quality on this album, with a subtle but noticeable amount of vibrato. The first main track, “Nordland,” was one of only two songs here that I had any issue with. The main riff and everything here is great, but it just rolls on and on and never changed. Shaving off a few minutes would have helped that track. Same comment goes for track 8, “Great Hall Awaits Fallen Brother,” although admittedly if I had paid attention to the lyrics at that time I might feel differently. The first track I mentioned though sounds very familiar with a song or two from Terminus, which I thought intriguing. Terminus’s vocalist is stronger, however. A big quality I love about this album is that every track has a different feel. There are some genuinely massive riffs on here, my favorites being in “Winterblot,” “Dragon Breath,” and “Mother Earth Father Thunder.” Okay, I’ll admit one more issue I had with the album. I just don’t like the track “Broken Swords.” It starts cool, and then it begins to feel like he’s just trying to do too many different ideas in a song, and it doesn’t really work for me. It also seems poorly mixed in my opinion, with what seemed to me extremely mixed and random production values. I guess it’s possible it’s from the source I was listening but I kind of doubt it, as the qualities I’m talking about were noticeable as different sections of the song began. I appreciate having a song here to bring up the tempo, but it was a little messy. But wow, that’s a great album. I’ll be revisiting this one a few times here and there for sure. Now onwards to Nordland II, which I’ve started a little.

Bathory- Nordland II This Bathory discography run was extremely rewarding. It’s funny how I always thought some of the older material was lackluster and hard to listen to long ago but going through it allowed me to find a different appreciation for those. This final album was solid, but I preferred the first of the would-be four album series. However, holy shit the final track of this one was one of the most epic things I’ve ever heard! It didn’t necessarily have the best riffs ever, but it was just a one of a kind sort of song. I wanted to replay that song more than anything I’ve heard in a long time. Great stuff! Now I turn my attention to other things.
Enslaved- Utgard I liked this album before but like with E, I found it took a long while for this to grow on me in a significant way. Wow, this one is starting to really become a record I want to listen to more. Takes time I guess.
Ensiferum- Thalassic I think this is now a top 10 album for me in 2020, given how much I listen to it. The new clean vocalist really brings this one to new heights for me. I also think the themes of the lyrics really add a level of engagement for me, everything tied together with the sea as a main character that many songs are centered around in a meaningful way.

Have been bingeing the first five Amon Amarth releases lately. I have not given them much attention compared to the more accessible later albums, but much goodness there as well.

Entropy-Ashen Existence Quality Tech Thrash that I'd classify as an overlooked gem of Canadian Thrash
Entropy-Transcendence God damn, they really went from a quality Tech Thrash band to a lame ass Groove band over the course of a single album. What a fucking downgrade.

Sangreal- Sangreal I just really love when vocal performances in metal are this strong. He sings with great power and control with a nice vibrato. One of the most obvious reasons to hear this record, but also all of these songs are just great.
Death Dealer- Hollowed Ground Holy shit how great is Sean Peck?! And also Ross the Boss here sounds excellent. This was my first Death Dealer experience. Incredible record. It does have one or two annoying songs for my tastes though. For example, I hate the song “K.I.L.L.” It drives me crazy when bands spell out words letter by letter in the song/chorus over and over. Makes it feel like a song designed to help people remember how to spell, but it’s worse because it’s an attempt to be aggressive or edgy by spelling a word like “kill.” Ugh. Stupid shit. Other than that, fantastic album.
Cage- Hell Destroyer I decided to follow my desire to hear more of what Sean Peck can do. Wow, this is almost right up there with Judas Priest and the Painkiller album. I couldn’t say it is as good as Painkiller for me but it’s really damn high up there!
Runemaster- Wanderer This one seems a little bit obscure but I was happy to see it has been reviewed on the site. I really dig every song here. This is one of those extremely well-rounded albums which is really likable on the first listen and thankfully better and better. I especially like the masculine vocals on this. Really matches with the heaviness of the album. And the songwriting here is really great.

Entropy-E3 Hell of a comeback album that ditches the Groove and goes back to angry Tech Thrash, albeit not as good as the debut.

Actually it is a free BC download, which kind of bugs me, because it will then not be added to my BC collection.
Actually wrote the band to ask if they could change to "pay what you want" as I could then pay for the download.
But no answer, so will go for the cd instead.
