Now I need to listen to Screaming for Vengeance again. Supposed to see them (with Sabaton opening) this fall, if things don't collapse again.

Uneven is a great word to describe Judas Priest records on average. That being said, I personally love every inch of Screaming for Vengeance. Painkiller is still my favorite though. I also like every track on it, although "Metal Meltdown" was a song I used to think was absolutely lame. That chorus is kinda lame in my head at least. However, I grew to love that song as well. S.f.V. is my favorite Priest album, Defenders... coming close as my 2nd fave Priest record.

Since I got an actual job that pays more than Monopoly money, I'll be having a bit more freedom to go to shows and such. Might do Mass Destruction Fest too since it's relatively nearby, and to fill the void of not being able to make Hells Heroes since it sold out yesterday. P A I N OT: Judas Priest- NostradamusTo reiterate, P A I N!

*LOL*
I could never get into Nostradamus. I saw them on that tour. At least they didn’t play the whole album live.

The only reason I bought this CD was because it came with a voucher for a free ticket for their upcoming tour. That album got more boring after each listen.
Some old school favorites over the last few days: Omen - Battle Cry Omen - Warning of Danger Cauldron Born - Born of the Cauldron
Warlord - ...and the Cannons of Destruction Have Begun Crimson Glory - Transcendence

Solitary Sabred- Redemption Through Force (2014) My first dive into this band's discography, and likely not the last, especially seeing that the band have released an album last year as well. That band name sounds somewhat like a work in progress, but they've held this name since 2000, so oh well. This album here has a definite thematic emphasis on battles, especially of good and evil themes relating to Christianity, but without seeming to take a stance. In that way, it just comes across as a brutal, evil-filled onslaught which is very engaging. Not every single moment is musically outstanding, but there are tons of great riffs and leads in this. Vocals are diverse, with some very impressive highs here and there that are not so different from Ripper Owens or something like that. Cool stuff I'm glad I decided to listen to today.
Defeated Sanity- The Sanguinary Impetus (2020) Well, after more than 60 full listens, I do believe I'm due for a review for this album. I still don't understand why it's so incredible when I consider the fact that I don't generally appreciate Brutal and/or Technical Death Metal, but it combines all of those elements and still blows my mind every time I listen to it. Anyone who saw my top albums list of 2020 will likely recall it was my album of the year, so no surprises about what kind of score I'll be giving it. lol. For those of you who haven't checked it out yet, especially those of you who don't like that kind of music, I did not like it much on the first two or three listens, but by the 8th run of the album I had it eternally lodged into my brain. An album that required much listening and learning, not an album for a spin or two to make a judgment call.

Judas Priest-Redeemer of Souls Man, it keeps threatening to get good and never does. Just so weak and dull.
Judas Priest-Firepower You know, this may be a typical album these days, but at least the band sounds like it's awake and making good music. Would be a solid bookend, but since they're working on a new one, I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they can keep it up.
Well, that's all the Priest albums start to finish. Can't say my general thoughts changed much, but at least one album was reevaluated, so that's something. Now to all the Halford solo stuff. All of it. None of it can be worse than the Ripper albums, right?
Right?

In Malice's Wake: The Blindness of Faith
This is pretty good actually.
I really don't get all those who hate on the current thrash scene - plenty of newer bands of high quality out there and this is clearly one of them.

Monster Magnet-Power Trip Not Metal, just one of the best rock albums of the 90s from one of the best rock bands period.
Truppensturm-Salute to the Iron Emporers I mean, it's Black/Death with Alexander von Melinwald on drums. What else am I supposed to say about it?

By Fire & Brimstone (last years album) is really, really good, something to look forward to if you have not heard it. When I saw the album cover I knew I had heard an excerpt from it before but I finally listened to it from start to finish this morning. When “Disillusions” had the somewhat monologue thing near the end I remembered I had heard that track before last year. Further inspections showed I had placed that album on a list of albums to check out but it (along with several others) never got the listening time due to how much is often on my playlists trying to keep up with recent releases. Anyway, it really is a cool release! I think I prefer the album before it due to some stylistic changes, especially vocally, but still it’s a really cool album.

Fight-War of Words Despite Mike's warning, I've heard worse. It's not without crap, but I'd gladly take it over the Ripper albums. Second album seems to be more universally hated, so I dread that one much more.
