Today I was in a nostalgic mood to listen to some true Swedish old school Death Metal, so this was my pick to satisfy my burning needs for that...

Angelus Apatrida - S/T Stormtide - A Throne of Hollow Fire Cult of Luna - Raging River Yoth Iria - As the Flame Withers
Cant seem to pry that Yoth Iria album out of the playlist.
The new Apatrida album I think is putting them up there along with Exodus, Testament and Kreator level of thrash bands. Incredibly impressive.

Being that I’m in a thrash mood, I decided to run through my favorite thrash records.
Infernal Majesty- None Shall Defy Still finding new things to appreciate about this one a hundred spins since the first listen.
Slayer- Reign in Blood I’ve got this cool cinematic idea for the last song, as it has a terrific sense of imagery. It feels like a battle which gets interrupted by a demon horde which abruptly clears the battlefield in bloody terror. It looks so cool in my head when I listen. Haha, who can make the video? Lol
Vio-lence- Eternal Nightmare Similar with Infernal Majesty, I feel I’m still hearing new things in this record so many times later. Such a great album!
Overkill- Taking Over Oh man, this could be my favorite thrash album ever now that I think about it. It’s just so damn good! Bobby Blitz grew on me a lot!

These are some of my favorite Thrash Metal albums of all time - along with Hell Awaits, Show No Mercy, Pleasure to Kill, Bonded by Blood, Master of Puppets, Eternal Devastation, Darkness Descends, Forward to Termination, The Ultra-Violence, etc. Yep, nothing can beat the eighties period as far as Thrash Metal is concerned... NEVER!

NEVER! Agreed. Although I have to say, the newest Warbringer album is top level in my opinion. Will probably be a top 5 thrash album for me in the end. And as for Slayer, my favorite changes so frequently. One day it’s RIB, another day it’s Show No Mercy, and then it becomes Hell Awaits. Man, old Slayer for me is about as good as it gets.

Agreed - that is one sweet album, really good. Would love if it could be remastered to get a fuller sound, the thin(ish) sound is the only non-stellar thing about it.

Overkill: Taking over Overkill: Under the Influence Warning Sign: Wake the Dead Warbringer: Weapons of Tomorrow I feel like you jumped into my playlist a bit there, as well as that sweet ass Warbringer record. Damn it’s so good. I especially love that black metal infused track, “Defiance of Fate.”

The Warbringer album is good - even if I do not rate it as much as you. Not really familiar with them though - are there other albums of note from their hand?

Yes, thrash is always great to turn on. Actually it’s probably my favorite sub genre, which is partly why Slayer’s classic became part of my username. But I kind of did almost exclusively thrash for a couple of years and now and spending more time getting into everything else, like my last year fascination with doom. Haha Anyway, to be honest, I still have yet to listen to any other Warbringer album. Since I just started my Apple Music 3 month trial today, I may aim to correct this soon. Considering it was my thrash album of 2020, I should really explore their earlier releases.

More great thrash:
Artillery: By Inheritance
Easily on my top ten list - probably also in the top 5.
